India – Rhang Surbhi

Rang Surbhi portrays the Indian cultural history of 5,000 years through its dances and music.  Displaying no inclination towards a rigid form, the group’s depiction of folk art is guided more by the subject of the songs, which glorify nature, express traditional occupations or offer devotion to the deities.  Rang Surbhi aims to install an awareness of their culture and heritage to other countries and to create and foster a spirit of love, goodwill and friendship amongst the people of the world.  The group excites audiences with it’s beautiful costumes and traditional instruments such as the Harmonium (a one handed floor version of a pedal organ) and the Dhol (a double sided barrel drum) as well as various percussion instruments.
